FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. Will this be strictly for art students and is that the difference from Apocalypse?

A. No, this is a literary arts journal that will take submissions of art, photography – poetry, prose, fiction, essays, articles, and hip-hop lyrics. It will be a very similar to The Apocalypse, but will have a few added genres.

Q. How do I become a member of Seeds?
A. Becoming a member of Seeds is pretty simple. Attending 3 meetings, expressing your interest, being a currently enrolled student with good academic standing and, a grade point average of at least a 2.5 gets you in! Keep an eye out for meeting dates which will be announced by email, and you can set alerts through our Google calendar.


O. I’d like to know more about the submissions requirements for Seeds.
A. Please click on the link above entitled, "Submissions". We have, also decided that all persons who wish to submit literature or art; please submit work that is non-violent in nature. All works must be of quality literary and/or artistic standard. Submissions will also be open to community members and high school students.


Q. What should I do to become an editor at Seeds? What other positions are available?
A. Becoming an editor is as simple as expressing an interest. If you have previous experience, you may provide a resume or cover letter which details that experience. If you don’t have any experience – this is the perfect place to gain some! We are looking to fill many positions, but mainly we need writing and arts editors, people who are publishing savvy, marketing specialists, web developers, translators, and just people who are go-getters! You know – the movers and shakers of the world. Express your interest at one of the meetings and add on to the development of job descriptions for each of the positions.

Q. What are the time commitment for members/staff of Seeds?
A. One thing that we at Seeds hold dear is our time, and the time of our fellow students. Therefore, we will meet bi-weekly on Thursday’s during activity hour (3:05 – 4:05). That time will only increase to weekly during production periods, and surrounding major events. If we have a large group of people working together, we can ensure that no one will be stretched too thin!

Q. Are the positions with Seeds paid positions?
A. Not at this time, we are working to prove ourselves to the university and will be seeking recognition as an ‘Annually Funded Club’ at the end of the fall 2010 semester. Once we can gain that standing, we can consider making the positions paid. We are also looking into making some of the positions into internship opportunities. We’ll keep everyone posted on developments surrounding paid positions.
